Role of AI in Cyber Security

Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Specific applications of AI include expert systems, natural language processing, speech recognition and machine vision. AI is very useful in the field of cyber security. Let’s say that a working employer click on a malicious phishing link using organizational system & it might have brought dire consequences. If the organization has used AI in this case, it might have saved the attacker from breaching the organizational network. AI will block the malicious request from going outside the organizational network in this case.

Advantages of AI

  • AI Learns More Over TimeAI technology is intelligent, and it uses its ability to improve network security over time. It uses machine learning and deep learning to learn a business network’s behavior over time. It recognizes patterns on the network and clusters them. It then proceeds to detect any deviations or security incidents from the norm before responding to them.
  • Artificial Intelligence Identifies Unknown Threats: A human being may not be able to identify all the threats a company faces. Every year, hackers launch hundreds of millions of attacks with different motives. Unknown threats can cause massive damage to a network. Worse still is the impact they can have before you detect, identify, and prevent them.
  • AI Can Handle a Lot of Data: A lot of activity happens on a company’s network. An average mid-sized company itself has huge traffic. That means there’s a lot of data transferred between customers and the business daily. This data needs protection from malicious people and software. But then, cyber security personnel cannot check all the traffic for possible threats.
  • Better Vulnerability Management: AI helps you assess systems quicker than cyber security personnel, thereby increasing your problem solving ability manifold. It identifies weak points in computer systems and business networks and helps businesses focus on important security tasks.
  • Accelerates Detection and Response Times:  Threat detection is the beginning of protecting your company’s network. It would be best if you detected things like untrusted data quickly. It will save you from the irreversible damage to your network.

Disadvantages of AI
Even though AI indeed answers most of the cyber security challenges, it’s not an ultimate fix yet. Right now, Artificial Intelligence is still difficult to implement on a small scale and the technology itself requires improvements. There are some drawbacks also in AI in a cyber security.

  • Cyber criminals are AI-savvy too: AI solutions for security can be used by hackers, too. The practices of cyber security teams are a lot more open than those of cyber criminals. We are unlikely to benefit from hackers’ experience, whereas they could potentially tap into organizations’ progress and reverse their findings to create a better threat.
  • Cyber threats evolve: Even if you introduce AI to your business, it doesn’t mean that you automatically become immune to all threats. Viruses and malware improves all the time, and even AI systems will need constant redesign, improvement, and maintenance.
  • High adoption barrier: Artificial Intelligence still requires AI lot of human resources and computing power, compared to typical antiviruses. You can simply install ready software rather than spending time and money on building a custom AI solution. The good news, however, is that AI is increasingly becoming more available and even small businesses can afford to build a security neutral network.

Conclusion

We can see the both advantages and disadvantages of AI in the field of cyber security. As the AI is controlled by human, so we need a professional to handle it. One thing is certain; adopting AI solutions can already help businesses spend less time and effort on their daily security tasks, while also keeping them better prepared for new risks. It is both the weapon against current threats and investment in the future. The technology is getting more available that means; soon no business will have a reason to delay adopting AI. Instead of waiting for custom tools to implement AI on a large level, it’s better to be ahead of the situation and start building powerful custom AI security too.

UNESCO Guidelines on Generative AI in Schools

The advent of artificial intelligence has assumed prominence amongst all industries and various facets of people's personal lives. The integration of AI in education has been inevitable, given the significance and role of information, knowledge production and administration in the sector. This is especially so as its capabilities entail replicating higher-order thinking. Besides assisting in the education process, it also brings the element of real-life relevance, allowing education to be imparted against the backdrop of the evolving world due to the same AI. It tends to have implications on the subject matter that needs to be imparted, which tends to be something that constantly needs to answer the question of "Why and how is this particular subject matter relevant for learning?".  This induces policy-makers and educational institutions to rethink what they need to impart as knowledge, the area of matter, and the manner of thinking to be emphasised. This is because educa...

Dark Web: Safe or unsafe? Truth Revealed!

The dark web is the part of the internet that is not visible to search engines. With the advancement in technology, digitization has resulted in different types of attacks. We can talk to anyone as long as we have an internet connection. The main concern is with privacy and anonymity in mind.  A team of computer scientists and mathematicians working for one branch of the US navy which is known as the Naval Research laboratory (NRL), developed a new technology known as Onion Routing. It allows anonymous communication where the source and destination cannot be determined by the third party. A network using the Onion Routing technique is classified as Darknet. The NRL released the Onion Routing Technique and it became The Onion Router, also known as TOR. Advantages of Dark Web  Humans are allowed to hold privacy and express their views freely. Privacy is considered to be critical for honest persons through the different criminals and stalkers.  The growing tendency of...
