Cyber Surakshit Bharat: An initiative towards strengthening cybersecurity



With the advancement in the Digital field and human subsistence has been inclined towards the digital world, which has led to the emergence of a paramount question that is Cyber Security and Privacy of an active cyberspace user. Thus, to build a reliable cyber-secure world for Indian Citizens Ministry of Information and Technology (MeitY) in association with NeGD has launched a Private-Public Sector Partnership imitative in 2018 which is known as CYBER SURAKSHIT BHARAT INITIATIVE. This initiative of Cyber Surakshit Bharat has been launched with a vision to strengthen the cyber-security ecosystem of India as it would also encourage Citizens to shift towards Digitalization from the old school approach of paperwork.

The intent behind the Cyber Surakshit Bharat initiative
The intent behind the launch of the Cyber-Surakshit Bharat Initiative is to ensure awareness amongst and across government departments about cybercrime, and adequate safety measures for ‘chief Information Security Officers’ (CISOs) and for other IT staff members under the government department. The principles which are being observed and followed under this initiative are basically: Education and enablement with regards to mitigation of Cyber Threats.

The amalgamation of private-public partnership
This initiative is regarded as one of its kind because of its Idea of Amalgamating the Cyber expertise of both the Public and Private Sector, such partnership may lead to fruitful results in the field of strengthening the security aspects in the Digital World.
The founding Partners for this Imitative includes Cyber-Giants such as Microsoft, Intel, Deloitte, WIPRO from the private sector and Cert-in, NIC, NASSCOM, FIDO Alliance have joined as Knowledge partners from the government Sector. This initiative was also joined by CISOs, defence forces, PSUs, technical Arms of the Air Force, Army and Navy as an attendee.      
  
Discovering aim through this initiative programme        
This partnership Initiative had the aim of conducting a series of training programs across the Golden Quadrilateral cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai for the period of six months. In these tanning programmes, they covered a range of topics related to Cyber-Security some of which included: guidance topics with regards to fundamentals of building blocks for secure cyberinfrastructure, how to identify Devices, OS and applications and so on. 
      
The present state of affairs regards to the initiative
Recently, in 2020 the national Cyber Security Council Secretariat in association with the Office of National Cybersecurity Coordinator formulated a National Cyber Security Strategy, 2020 which attached its base from the 2018 Initiative of Cyber Surakshit Bharat, however, the only new inclusion in this draft was Cyber-Security during the Time of Covid 19 Pandemic. And India being an emerging face in Cyberspace around the world thus, it becomes extremely important to have stringent Laws and policies for safeguarding in Interests of Citizens.
