Importance of Cyber Education for Teenagers exposed to the E-World

Today's young generation is most exposed to cyberspace. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic situation prevalent in the country, many states were completely shut down, due to which the education system suffered a lot. During the initial stages of the Lockdown, the schools had no means to teach the students. All the educational institutions, School teachers and coaching centres suffered a lot, but slowly and gradually everything started evolving through online modes.
By the time passed, schools started conducting online meetings via zoom, google meet and various other platforms for students. This sudden shift of the education fraternity to online mode made it necessary for the students to be provided with their own personal Mobile Phones and Internet. Indeed it was the only way left for the education system to continue with the studies of the higher and lower grade students in a proper manner. This digitalization helped us in many ways. It resulted very helpfully in maintaining the heavy losses of the students but as we know that everything has its own merits and demerits that adversely affected the students.

Nowadays, most of the teenage students who are studying through online modes are getting more and more exposed to the social world and have started to globalize themselves all over the world. Most of the students pursuing their higher education belong to the age group of 10 – 21 and remain highly active on social networking sites. These students are not only the ones who remain super active on social media today, but now they are also the ones who are the most exposed to all kinds of Cyber threats and Cyber-attacks.

We are not unknown to any kind of the consequences of Cyber Attacks. Unfortunately, the new upcoming generation is unaware of the possibility of being tricked by cyber attackers. Regardless of the fact that in today’s digitalized world, where everything goes on online, there is a much threat to their personal data and privacy. College going and school going students often interact with unknown people via social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat etc. despite having any cyber knowledge.

In this new era, Cyber Education should become a new subject to be included in their courses, where students could be made aware of their own security and privacy issues.  In order to prevent them from getting tricked and losing their social security. We really don’t know that what is going to happen the next moment over the Internet. How can one live with such uncertainty where people don’t even know, how to control their own data and their own personal information from getting hacked by some hackers? There are numerous Cyber-attacks taking place every day and every moment, such as:

  • Cyberbullying
  • Hacking
  • Phishing
  • Cyber Stalking
  • Sexual harassment etc.

There are many more uncountable examples like this. The list of all these crimes is innumerable. Sadly, the most probable victims of these attacks have become the students, who always remain stuck to their Mobile Phones from the very start of the day as soon as they wake up, till the late nights as they go to bed again. All they do is remain exposed to the Internet.
Internet and Social networking has now become an indispensable part of human life. It cannot be parted away by saying that it’s insecure because more or less, we all have to make use of these resources to sustain our daily works. All we can do to make the Cyber World more secure is by creating awareness among the population, especially youth, to prevent the various kinds of misdeeds happening today. Many Cyber campaigns are coming forward to fulfil this desire of creating cyber awareness among the youth for the protection of the individual in general and society as a whole. Cyber awareness is the only means by which Cybercrimes could be controlled all over the world.

Youth is going to lead the next generation and the responsibility to show them the correct path lies with all of us. The future of our country is in our hands. Let’s make Cyber Security the priority of each and every citizen and pledge to make the cyber world completely safe and secure.

The same such initiative has been taken by World Cyber Security Forum (WCSF) to train the young minds about Cyber Security and their Cyber Protection, in order to make their future safe and secure.
